TikToker Sana Yousaf’s alleged killer arrested in Islamabad murder case

Islamabad IGP Ali Nasir Rizvi says tragic murder of 17-year-old Sana Yousaf sparked outrage across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 3rd, 2025) Police have arrested the alleged killer of Sana Yousaf, a young TikToker who was shot dead inside her home in Sector G-13/1 of the Federal capital.

The Islamabad police sources said that the CCTV footage capturing the suspect fleeing the scene was recovered. In the footage, the suspect appears to be a young male wearing a black t-shirt, and is seen running away from the house after the incident.

Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Ali Nasir Rizvi, held a press conference alongside senior officers to address the case. He stated that the tragic murder of 17-year-old Sana Yousaf sparked outrage across the country.

“She was a talented and influential voice on social media. At just 17, her opinions were heard and respected in society,” he said.

The murder took place on June 2, around 5 PM, when an unidentified assailant entered her home and shot her twice in the chest.

Sana succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital.

The seven police teams were immediately formed to identify and locate the suspect using digital surveillance and cellular data analysis.

Over 113 CCTV camera footages were reviewed and details of more than 300 phone calls were examined.

The sources confirmed that the accused, identified as Umar Hayat alias Kaka, was arrested from Faisalabad. He is also reportedly a TikToker and had presented himself as a close friend of the deceased. Shockingly, before committing the murder, the suspect gave Sana flowers to mark her birthday, and then opened fire shortly afterward.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised Islamabad Police on social media platform X for arresting the suspect.

“The pistol and the victim’s mobile phone have been recovered from the accused, who has confessed to the crime,” he said.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered by Sana Yousaf’s mother, Farzana Yousaf, who recounted the horrifying details. She stated that the attacker entered their home wearing black clothing and was armed with a pistol.

At the time, her husband and son were not home. The suspect fired two shots at her daughter and hit her in the chest.

Farzana, along with her sister-in-law Latifa Shah—a witness to the incident—confirmed they can identify the assailant.

Sana’s body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination at PIMS Hospital.

The senior police officials affirmed that geo-fencing of the crime scene and Safe City surveillance were instrumental in identifying the suspect, and assured the public that modern forensic methods would continue to be used to ensure justice.

The brutal murder of the teenage influencer has shocked the social media users and reignited calls for stricter safety measures for digital creators in Pakistan.
