Islamabad High Court stays eviction of vendors from Daman-e-Koh in Margalla Hills

Justice Inam Amin Minhas observes CDA should refrain from creating any obstacles for licensed street vendors

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 3rd, 2025) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday stayed the eviction of street vendors from Daman-e-Koh, a popular tourist spot in the Margalla Hills.

Justice Inam Amin Minhas passed the order on a plea against the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for removing vendors from the area.

Representing the vendors, Barrister Umar Ijaz Gilani argued that the CDA had evicted them following the closure of a private restaurant. He maintained that the court’s previous decision was limited to the private restaurant located in the Margalla Hills and did not extend to the street vendors.

The lawyer further submitted that a precedent from former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa already existed, which protected the rights of street vendors.

The court observed that the CDA should refrain from creating any obstacles for licensed street vendors, and adjourned further hearing until June 30.
