PTI Senator Ali Zafar says protest movement will not be centered in Islamabad but will be held across country
RAWALPINDI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-May 31st, 2025) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan announced the launch of a nationwide protest movement against the government under his leadership.
The announcement was made by PTI Senator Ali Zafar while speaking to the media after meeting Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.
The PTI senator stated that the protest movement would not be centered in Islamabad but would be held across the country.
Senator Ali Zafar said the PTI founder remarked that they have been cornered and left with no other option but to take to the streets. “We will protest across the country, and I will lead the movement from jail,” Imran Khan reportedly said.
Imran Khan added that he will issue all instructions regarding the protest movement from prison. "He has assigned me the responsibility of preparing the protest plan, which I will present to him during our next meeting," said Senator Ali Zafar.
Zafar further noted that consultations will be held with lawyers and party leadership to finalize the plan. “The PTI founder is very serious—this movement will be unlike any before,” he said.
Imran Khan emphasized that this time the movement will be well-planned and effectively executed. “Obstacles will come, but we know how to handle them. The protest strategy will be finalized within a few days,” he added.
Senator Zafar said the PTI founder will lead the movement from jail in his capacity as chairman and will assign responsibilities to others in the next meeting.
Regarding party leadership, Imran Khan said he trusts them but will personally lead the movement.
He also stated that they have received no relief from the judiciary or the executive and have been pushed against the wall with no options left.
Senator Ali Zafar added that while different individuals would be given responsibilities in the movement, it would ultimately be led by the PTI founder himself.
“Now that he has made the announcement, it must be implemented, though we still hope for relief,”.
