Sindh govt allocates Rs30m for Katcha operation against bandits


 

This decision has been made during a meeting presided over by Chief Secretary Muhammad Fakhre Alam Irfan in Karachi, responding to a request from the Sindh police.

KARACHI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Oct 27th, 2023) The Sindh government, in a recent development, has sanctioned an allocation of Rs30 million to support a katcha operation against bandits.

This decision was made during a meeting presided over by Chief Secretary Muhammad Fakhre Alam Irfan in Karachi, responding to a request from the Sindh police.

The approved funds, amounting to Rs30 million, will be directed towards providing food and fuel to the police involved in the katcha operation. Additionally, new police checkpoints will be established in Ghotki, Kashmore, Jacobabad, and Sukkur to enhance the effectiveness of the operation. The katcha area, where this operation will take place, stretches over 176 kilometers in length and is 25 kilometers wide.

IG Punjab Usman Anwar presented the police strategy for the katcha area during the meeting. The operation is set to focus on Ghotki and Kashmore districts in Sindh and Ranipur and Rahim Yar Khan areas in Punjab as part of the joint effort to combat bandits.

It is worth noting that the caretaker chief ministers of Sindh and Punjab have jointly decided to launch an operation against bandits in the katcha areas. During their meeting, a comprehensive strategy for the operation was also discussed.

A spokesperson mentioned that the demarcation of the katcha areas in Sindh and Punjab was delineated during the session.
