The latest reports say that Pakistan Rangers arrest Imran Khan as he reached the judicial complex in Islamabad.
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-May 9th, 2023) Pakistan Rangers on Tuesday arrested former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in Islamabad.
The latest reports suggested that Imran Khan was arrested from the courtyard of Islamabad judicial complex.
As he reached the court premises, Rangers personnel surrounded Imran Khan's vehicle and took him into custody, before shifting him to another location using a black Vigo parked nearby. The PTI Chairman was reportedly on his way to the biometric center before his appearance before the Islamabad High Court.
Sources revealed that Pakistan Rangers had arrest warrants for Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case of the National Accountability Bureau. Footage of the incident showed Imran Khan's lawyer being injured during the arrest.
The Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq took notice of Imran Khan's arrest and summoned the IGP Islamabad and other officials within the next 15 minutes. The court also sought an explanation from the government authorities on the grounds for the PTI chief's arrest.
