The Syrian government forces up lost up to 40 troops as militants launched an attack in Idlib de-escalation zone, the Russian center for reconciliation in Syria said Thursday.

About 450 militants began an attack late on Wednesday.

"The Syrian government forces losses include up to40 people killed and up to 80 injured," the center said in a statement.

About 50 militants were killed and some 90 were injured, the center said.

The government troops had to leave their positions in the southeast of the de-escalation zone because of another attack. Two settlements � Samka and Hwain al Shaaf � were captured as a result.

Meanwhile, up to 50 militants attempted to attack Aleppo. The attack was repelled, seven militants were killed, nine injured. Two Syrian troops were killed and four injured, the center said.
