MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd January, 2020) Six people were killed and at least 20 people were injured as a bus fell into a chasm in southern Peru, media reported on Wednesday, citing local police.
The incident took place at about 3 a.m. local time (08:00 GMT) on Panamericana Sur highway near Tambillo settlement, the Peruvian state news agency Andina reported.
Circumstances of the incident are being investigated, the media said. However, according to the main version of what happened, the cause of the incident was the loss of control over the bus by a driver.
Road accidents are not uncommon in Peru. According to the Peruvian National Police, a total of 717 people were killed in car accidents in 2019.
