First time feeling being Muslim is handicap:  Naseeruddin Shah

The Indian actor says that PM Modi had never been a student himself and therefore he does not have empathy for the students and intellectuals.

MUMBAI: (Urdu Point/Pakistan Point News-Jan 22nd, 2020) Indian film star Naseeruddin Shah has spoken up against new citizenship laws in India under the Modi government, saying that “he was living for last 70 years and doing whatever he wanted but never proved him to be in India but he does not know what does now,”.

In an interview to a news organization, Naseeruddin shah said he was not afraid and not anxious but was angry.

Naseeruddin Shah—is one the best actors in India who does not hesitate to express his views on current issues.

Talking about the situation arose in India due to anti-CAA-NRC-NPR protests, he said younger actors and directors were speaking against this law in the film industry of India. He said that silence of the big name stars is not surprising as they felt they had a lot to lose. But even Deepika Padukone had a lot to lose, he argued, and she did come out in public to show her solidarity.

Naseeruddin shah’s family served in Army and Administrators in the Indian government at different times but for the first time he was feeling being a Muslim was a handicap. Shah said that he was reminded of that identity all the time which was very worrying.

Talking about crackdown on students and intellectuals, he said that Prime Minister had never been a student himself and therefore he lacked empathy and compassion towards them.
