Foreign Ministry Says Detention Of Russian National In Kosovo Outrageous

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th May, 2019) Moscow considers the detention of a Russian national in Kosovo to be outrageous and demands that the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) provide comprehensive information on his arrest, as well as make efforts to have him released, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

The Kosovar police conducted earlier in the day a special operation in the northern regions of Kosovo, which are mainly populated by Serbs. Around 30 people were detained, including Russian citizen, UNMIK employee Mikhail Krasnoshchekov. According to media reports, he was hospitalized with injuries.

"The detention was carried out despite the fact that the Russian has a diplomatic immunity of a UN employee. We regard this outrageous act as another manifestation of the provocative policy of the Kosovo Albanian elite," the ministry said.

Moscow also demanded from the UNMIK leadership to provide comprehensive information regarding the unlawful arrest of Krasnoshchekov and to do its best to secure his immediate release.
