KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th May, 2019) The mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which is now working in Kiev, discussed with the director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) Artem Sytnyk the fight against corruption in the country, the NABU said in a statement on Friday.

On Wednesday, the Ukrainian News agency reported, citing a source, that the IMF mission had cut the work schedule in Kiev and was returning to Washington because of the decision to dissolve parliament, and would not review the program of cooperation. The IMF's Ukrainian office refuted this information and stated that the mission continued to work on the previously planned two-week schedule.

"During the meeting, the participants discussed the issue of providing NABU with the right to independently remove information from communication channels, criminal liability for illegal enrichment and conducting an audit of the institution," the statement says.

In December 2018, the IMF Executive Board approved a $3.9 billion stand-by loan program for Ukraine for a period of 14 months. Of this sum, $1.4 billion were transferred in December 2018, and the remaining funds would be allocated on the basis of semi-annual reviews. First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Kateryna Rozhkova said that Kiev would most likely receive the next loan tranche from the IMF in June.
