Over 1,000 Syrians returned home from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said on Wednesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd May, 2019) Over 1,000 Syrians returned home from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said on Wednesday.

"Over the past day, in total 1,021 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 314 people ([including] 94 women and 160 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh CPs [checkpoints], and 707 people ([including] 212 women and 361 children) from Jordan via the Nasib CP," the center said in its daily bulletin.

The center added that as many as 11 internally displaced Syrians had returned to their places of permanent residence in the country over the given period.

The center added that the Russian military held one humanitarian action in the Aleppo province over the past day, delivering 500 food sets with a total weight of 3.45 tonnes to local residents.

Syrian engineering units have, meanwhile, cleared of mines 2.8 hectares (6.9 acres) of land and destroyed 35 explosive devices over the past 24 hours, the bulletin added.

As the Syrian government has regained control over most of the country's territories that were seized by terrorists, it is now focused on creating favorable conditions for repatriating refugees. Moscow is assisting Damascus in this process, along with providing humanitarian aid to civilians and being a guarantor of the ceasefire.
