MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd May, 2019) Russia will prepare the first draft of its report on the progress that has been made on implementing the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by March 2020, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin said on Wednesday.

"Next year, Russia will present a voluntary, national review on progress [that has been made] toward implementing the 2030 goals at the United Nations ... The first draft of the report will come out in March 2020," Vershinin said at the Russian national forum on sustainable development, held in Moscow by the Vedomosti newspaper.

Despite the sanctions pressure, Russia continues to aim toward achieving the sustainable development targets, the deputy foreign minister noted.

The SDGs are a set of goals that the United Nations has enshrined in Resolution 70/1 for the international community to achieve by 2030. The agenda includes eliminating poverty and hunger, reducing inequality and providing clean water and sanitation, as well as a number of environmental and economic objectives.
