Magnitude 6.3 Earthquake Strikes Off New Caledonia Coast - USGS

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th May, 2019) A 6.3 magnitude earthquake was registered on Sunday off the coast of New Caledonia, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake was recorded at 14:56 GMT, with the tremor's epicenter located 164 kilometers (102 miles) east of the town of Tadine at the depth of 10 kilometers.

There is no information about any damages and victims caused by the earthquake. No tsunami alert has been declared.

New Caledonia is located in a seismologically active zone and regularly suffers from powerful earthquakes.
