BEIJING (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th May, 2019) The US-Chinese trade decreased by 15.7 percent in the first four months of 2019, totaling $161.23 billion amid long-existing trade tensions between the two economies, the data of the Chinese General Administration of Customs showed on Wednesday.

In January-April, Chinese exports to the United States dropped by 9.7 percent to $122.45 billion, while imports from the United States to China saw a 30.4 percent decrease year-on-year, reaching $38.79 billion only, the data showed.

China bought $31.36 billion worth of goods from the United States in April, while it exported $10.34 billion worth of goods to the United States.

US President Donald Trump announced on May 5 that Washington would raise tariffs on a number of Chinese goods from 10 to 25 percent starting Friday, while on May 6 he said that the United States had been losing billions of Dollars to China on trade, pledging to reverse the situation.

Despite Trump's plans to increase duties, a Chinese delegation is getting ready to head for Washington to participate in the new round of trade talks with US officials, scheduled for this week.
