SSJ100 That Burned Down At Moscow Airport Underwent Maintenance In April - Manufacturer

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th May, 2019) The Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft, which burned down at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport on Sunday, was under scheduled maintenance in April, the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC), the aircraft's manufacturer, said in a statement.

"SSJ100, that burned down in Sheremetyevo airport, was under scheduled maintenance in the beginning of April 2019," it said.

The company said that the plane returned to the airport of departure "upon receipt of the information about the abnormality aboard" and after tough landing the aircraft "was burned down."

It added that its representatives joined the commission conducting the investigation into the incident.

At least 13 people died, including two children, and many others were injured, some severely, in the tragedy. The Russia's Investigative Committee is investigating the incident.
