Russian Investigative Committee Says 37 Passengers Survived Following SSJ100 Accident

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th May, 2019) A total of 37 passengers of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft, which caught fire during emergency landing in Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, have survived,�Spokeswoman of the Russian Investigative Committee Svetlana Petrenko said on Sunday.

"As previously reported, there were 78 people on board of the plane performing a flight from Moscow to Murmansk, including crew members. According to the updated data, available to the investigation to date, 37 people have survived," Petrenko said.

The SSJ100 had to make an emergency landing earlier in the day at the Sheremetyevo Airport due to the fire on board, which ultimately burnt down the aircraft. Russian flagship carrier Aeroflot confirmed that the fire had been extinguished.
