One Civilian Killed In Militant Attack On Suburbs Of Syria's Hama - Russian Military

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th May, 2019) Militants attacked the suburbs of the Syrian western-central city of Hama on Sunday, killing one civilian and injuring two others, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Syrian Reconciliation said.

"In the morning on May 5, militants of illegal armed groups shelled the suburbs of the city of Hama ... As a results of the shelling, two houses were destroyed, one civilian was killed, two injured," the center's spokesperson said at daily briefing.

Moreover, shelling was carried out from the towns of Kafr Zita and Ltamenah, where the militants are teaming up under the leadership of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group, outlawed in Russia) presumably to launch an offensive on Hama, according to the center.

"The situation in the north of the province of Aleppo has escalated. On the evening of May 4, the militants of the Free Syrian Army, with two groups totaling up to 250 people attempted to break through the defense line of the government forces on 20 off-road vehicles with heavy machine guns ... Retaliatory fire has stopped and thrown back the militant groups to their initial positions. Their losses amounted to more than 15 people killed, three pickups were destroyed, " the spokesperson underlined.
