MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th May, 2019) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed on Sunday that his talks with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, set to take place in the Finnish city of Rovaniemi on Monday, would focus on Venezuela, adding that the agenda would be rich.
"We will discuss Venezuela, but not only Venezuela. We have quite a rich agenda. There are many problems and many international tasks that need to be solved, and there are many tasks related to global and regional security as well," Lavrov said at a press conference following talks with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza in Moscow.
The Russian foreign minister stressed that dialogue between Moscow and Washington was underway despite the numerous existing differences.
"We have many differences on a whole range of regional conflicts, including on Syria, Afghanistan and the Korean Peninsula. But we have quite professional consultations on all these three conflicts, and the consultations have been launched at the US initiative. This leaves hope that common sense will eventually prevail," Lavrov added.
