PTI govt bought more cars than it sold

Cabinet Division revealed that the government bought at least 171 cars for various institutions.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 30th April, 2019) The incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has bought more cars than it sold during its eight months in powers.

The cabinet division revealed this in its written reply to National Assembly.

Media reports said that the cabinet division gave the details of the cars bought during this fiscal year to the National Assembly.

The report revealed that the government bought at least 171 cars for various institutions. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) topped the list of the institutions to get most cars as it got 54 vehicles, including five motorcycles.

Similarly, Motorway Police got 30 new cars while National University of Technology got 13 of them.

The written reply by the cabinet division revealed that the National Horticultural Authority got nine while seven new cars were provided to Trade and Development Authority.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his first address to the nation on August 19, had announced the austerity drive and vowed to cut down on government expenses. He initiated the campaign by announcing auction of excess luxury and other vehicles used by the PM House. The Federal cabinet later endorsed the decision of the prime minister and gave the formal go ahead.

At least 61 vehicles of the PM House, including six protected vehicles, were auctioned in the first round on Sep 17 while others were auctioned later.

However, it has now been revealed that the government bought more cars than it sold or auctioned under its austerity measures.
