Saudi Arabia increases Hajj quota for Pakistan

15,790 more Pakistani citizens will be able to go for Hajj with the increased quota.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 29th April, 2019) The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has increased the Hajj quota for Pakistan.

According to media reports, 15,790 more Pakistani citizens will go for Hajj with the increased quota.

The spokesperson for Religious Affairs ministry said that a lucky draw for additional quota will be held after the approval of Federal cabinet.

With the additional quota, 9,474 citizens will go through government Hajj scheme while 6,316 will go through private tour operators.

Earlier, an addition of 5000 persons was made in the Hajj quota under the Hajj 2019 agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has asked private Hajj Group Organisers ( HGOs) to keep at least five percent of their total Hajj packages at par with government scheme package.

An official of the Ministry said that Hajj quota would only be distributed among the HGOs on confirmation of accepting the condition of keeping five percent of their total packages to Rs 456,000.

He said the Ministry has launched a short message service (SMS) to help saving private Hajj pilgrims from fictitious Hajj Group Organising companies' (HGOs).
