Three Members Of Sudanese Transition Military Council Resign - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th April, 2019) Three representatives of the Sudanese transition military council, set up to govern the country following the overthrow of President Omar Bashir, have submitted their resignation letters after the talks with the opposition, media reported on Thursday.

The Masrawy news outlet reported, citing the council's spokesman, Shams al-Deen Kabashi, that the authority was considering these letters.

There have been no immediate reports on the reasons behind the resignations.

The military toppled Bashir on April 11 following months of anti-government protests. The rallies, however, continued, calling for the transition of power to a civilian government as soon as possible.

The African Union has also insisted that the military council should return the power to a civilian-led democratic government.
