Female SHO removes trees after dust storm in Karachi

While people lauded the city police, especially the female SHO, for clearing the roads, they also pointed out to the missing district government and KMC.

Karachi (Pakistan Point News – 16th April, 2019) The Karachi police on Monday removed the trees, fallen during the intense dust storm that hit the city over the weekend.

Instead of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), the city police stepped in to remove the trees from different roads of the city to clear the passage for smooth flow of traffic.

Station House Officer (SHO) Kharadar police station Ms. Shabana Jeelani along with a police team lifted the trees from I.I. Chundrigar Road to clear the road for traffic. Section Officer, Akber Road Traffic Section Karachi, Rana Lateef also removed a tree from Akber Road to clear road for traffic.

A video of the female SHO was also posted on Twitter.

A dust storm accompanied by strong winds swept across Karachi on Sunday night, causing multiple casualties.

The intense dust storm hit the metropolis Sunday night and continued on Monday morning while moderate to light rain was also reported in some areas of the metropolis, including Saddar, Liaquatabad, Orangi Town and I.I.Chundrigar Road.

The intense dust storm also caused the incidents of fall of trees, electric poles and collapses of roof and walls in various areas of the city include Korangi, Malir, Lyari, Landhi and Surjani Town.

While Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rains along with dust and thunderstorm in the city for Monday, at least three people died and 10 others have reportedly been severely injured owing to bad weather conditions in the city.
