MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 09th April, 2019) Russia will help India prepare for its first crewed mission to space, by assisting it in the creation of the spaceship's life support and radiation shielding, the director general of Russia's state space firm Glavkosmos told Sputnik on Tuesday.

India plans to launch an orbital spacecraft with a crew of three members by the end of 2021. The spaceship called Gaganyaan made its unmanned maiden flight in 2014.

"Russian space industry experts intend to assist [India] in the creation of spacesuits, spacecraft seats, life support systems for crew members, protection from radiation and space debris, and in the training of Indian astronauts," Glavkosmos Director General Dmitry Loskutov said.

Glavkosmos is a subsidiary of Russia's state space corporation Roscosmos, which signed a memorandum of cooperation on manned space missions with the Indian Space Research Organization in October.
