Kremlin Says Unaware of Plans to Issue Russian Passports to Donbas Residents

Kremlin has no information on the alleged plans to issue Russian passports to the residents of the breakaway Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics (DPR and LPR), Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd April, 2019) Kremlin has no information on the alleged plans to issue Russian passports to the residents of the breakaway Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics (DPR and LPR), Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

"I do not have any information on this issue, I do not know what reports you are talking about," Peskov said at a briefing, when asked to comment on the reports that Russia allegedly plans to start issuing passports.

In late March, reports emerged claiming that Russia will begin issuing passports to the DPR and LPR residents on April 1.

The conflict in Donbas started in 2014, when Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed republics that refused to recognize the new government in Kiev, which came to power after what they considered to be a coup.
