Hike in petrol prices challenged in Lahore High Court

According to the notification, petrol prices were increased by Rs6, High Speed Diesel by Rs6 while the prices of Kerosene Oil and Light Speed Diesel were increased by Rs3.3.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 1st April, 2019) The government had approved an increase in petroleum products and issued a notification in this regard.

According to the notification, petrol prices were increased by Rs6, High Speed Diesel by Rs6 while the prices of Kerosene Oil and Light Speed Diesel were increased by Rs3.3.

This was termed as a petrol bomb on the public who are already facing inflation.

The decision has now been challenged in Lahore High Court as well.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties are also criticising the move and termed it against public interest.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Aneeza Fatima submitted a resolution against the hike in petrol prices in Punjab Assembly.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Friday recommended heavy increase in the petroleum products following which the prices were increased by Rs6.

The decision was implemented from today, April 1st.

According to details, OGRA had recommended Rs11.91 increase in patrol, Rs11.91 in High Speed diesel, Rs6.65 in light diesel and Rs6.50 in kerosene oil.

The ministry of petroleum implemented the recommended increase in petroleum products after getting approval from the Finance ministry.
