Tymoshenko Team Claims Second Place In Presidential Vote

KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 31st March, 2019) The team of Ukraine's presidential candidate Yulia Tymoshenko said its own vote tally placed her second in the race for the nation's top job.

Her team said she won 20.9 percent of votes in this Sunday's election, coming second after comedian Volodymyr Zelenskiy who, it said, won 27 percent. Poroshenko was third with 17.5 percent.

The rival exit polls by Ukrainian television channels all ranked Tymoshenko third, excluding her from the second round on April 21.

The deputy chair of her Fatherland party, Serhiy Vlasenko, accused Ukraine's Security Service of falsifications and "provocations."

"They are conducting provocations, they want to control information that will be passed to the Central Election Commission," he said at a press conference at the campaign headquarters.

Speaking at a press briefing, Tymoshenko said she expected to go into the second round of elections together with Zelenskiy.

"We expect that after the real results of the election come in we will face off with Zelenskiy in the second round," she said, slamming the exit polls as "paid-for," "absolutely manipulative and unfair."
