VLADIVOSTOK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th March, 2019) A delegation of Japanese lawmakers discussed the development of tourism in Vladivostok with local lawmakers, the city parliament reported on Monday.

"Four lawmakers and one senator arrived in Vladivostok on a familiarization visit. They are all involved in the development of international relations and tourism, it is their first visit to Vladivostok," it said in a statement.

The head of the Japanese delegation Yosuke Tsuruho said that it was necessary to spread information about tourism opportunities of Russia's Primorsky Territory in order to increase the flow of tourists to the region.

"Vladivostok is a beautiful and hospitable city that could be interesting for Japanese tourists. To increase tourist exchanges, it is necessary to more widely demonstrate tourism opportunities and spread information about Vladivostok," Tsuruho said.

According to the most recent data from the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism (Russiatourism), in 2017, the number of Japanese tourists visiting Russia increased by 20 percent year-on-year to 102,000.
