He prayed that the government succeeds in its efforts to bring Dr Aafia back home.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 19th March, 2019) Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan has said that the nation will soon hear good news about Dr Aafia Siddiqui.

Speaking to media on Tuesday, the minister said that Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s matter is very sensitive so its better to remain silent upon reports relating to her. “Silence upon her release will be in our advantage,” he said, adding that her family should refrain from spreading rumours about her release.

He prayed that the government succeeds in its efforts to bring Dr Aafia back home.

The minister further said that government is serious about Nawaz Sharif’s health. He said that Nawaz Sharif can get treated from wherever he wants.

He further said that Pakistani government’s stance is clear upon New Zealand attack. Ali Muhammad Khan said that terrorism has no religion, adding that America and other Western states should fully condemn the shooting incident.

Aafia Siddiqui was indicted by a New York Federal district court in September, 2008 on charges of attempted murder and assault stemming from an incident in an interview with US authorities in Ghazni, charges which she denied.

After 18 months in detention, she was tried and convicted in early 2010 and sentenced to 86 years in prison.

There have been media reports that Dr Aafia Siddiqui will soon return home.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had also said that the government is trying hard to get Dr Aafia back home and prayed that Allah succeed them in their efforts.
