Russia's S7 Airlines said Tuesday it will suspend the operation of Boeing 737 MAX planes starting March 13 until further information on the causes of the recent crash of the plane of this type in Africa is available

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th March, 2019) Russia's S7 Airlines said Tuesday it will suspend the operation of Boeing 737 MAX planes starting March 13 until further information on the causes of the recent crash of the plane of this type in Africa is available.

"S7 Airlines has decided to temporarily halt the operation of Boeing 737 MAX passenger planes starting March 13 until the company receives more detailed information on the investigation into the causes of the crash of Ethiopian Airlines aircraft," S7 press service said.

The press service stressed that the suspension will not affect the airline's current flight schedule.

S7 has a total of 96 planes, including two Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes, in its fleet.

On Sunday, a Nairobi-bound Boeing 737 MAX 8, operated by Ethiopian Airlines, crashed minutes after takeoff from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. All 157 people from over 30 countries aboard the flight were killed.

Aviation authorities and airlines of several countries, including Great Britain, Germany, France, China, and Australia, have suspended operation of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 in their airspace.
