Saudi Aramco Says Interested in Collaborating With Russia in Reducing Carbon Footprint

Saudi Arabian state oil company Aramco is interested in collaborating with Russia on reducing the carbon footprint when producing oil, the company's Chief Technology Officer Ahmad Khowaiter told Sputnik in an interview on Tuesday

HOUSTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th March, 2019) Saudi Arabian state oil company Aramco is interested in collaborating with Russia on reducing the carbon footprint when producing oil, the company's Chief Technology Officer Ahmad Khowaiter told Sputnik in an interview on Tuesday.

"We have collaboration and discussions with some Russian companies in exchange of information and it's definitely an area that we would be very interested in collaborating on the reduction of carbon footprint in the production of oil," Khowaiter said on the sidelines of the CERAWeek conference in Houston, Texas.

The company is also very interested in collaborating in the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI), he added

"It's often about sharing knowledge of best practices and standards. We would love to share the knowledge around about how we reduced our carbon footprint. With Russia as well," Khowaiter said.

A carbon footprint is the amount of emissions caused by a company's or a country's activities.
