HOUSTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th March, 2019) The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is following US work on an anti-cartel NOPEC legislation with interest, and is hoping that the reason will prevail as the law does not serve US interests, OPEC Secretary General Mohammad Barkindo said Tuesday."We are following with keen interest in the Secretariat the issue of NOPEC and its legislative process in Congress. All I can say there is a growing advocacy for a second look ... The legislation as it stands would not serve the interests of the United States," Barkindo said during a press conference at CERAWeek in Houston, Texas.
"We remain confident that reason will prevail and these strong voices will be taken into account," the OPEC secretary general added.
