More Than Half of UK Nationals See No Improvement in May's New Brexit Deal - Poll

More than half of UK nationals think that UK Prime Minister Theresa May's new Brexit deal has not improved on the previous one that the UK parliament rejected in January, a poll released on Tuesday by a UK news agency showed

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th March, 2019) More than half of UK nationals think that UK Prime Minister Theresa May's new Brexit deal has not improved on the previous one that the UK parliament rejected in January, a poll released on Tuesday by a UK news agency showed.

On Monday, May announced that she and European Commission President Jean-Claude Junker had managed to secure legal changes to the Brexit deal, which had previously been rejected by the UK parliament by 432 votes to 202.

According to the Sky News poll, 42 percent of people thought that the new deal made "no real difference," 6 percent said it was "a little worse" and 5 percent said it was "a lot worse."

In addition, 43 percent of respondents said that the parliament should reject the new deal when they vote on it on late Tuesday.

If the government's deal does not pass on Tuesday, a vote on a no-deal scenario will be held on Wednesday. If that option is rejected as well, a vote on an extension of the Brexit deadline is expected on Thursday.

With the March 29 deadline for the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union approaching, tensions among UK nationals and policy makers are running high, as no exit deal has been secured and the country risks to leave the bloc without a comprehensive system of tax regulations in place.
