MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th March, 2019) Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, suggested on Thursday that UK Permanent Representative to the United Nations Karen Pierce educate herself better following her remarks about allegedly backward Russian science.On Wednesday, Pierce said that Russia's criticism of the final report prepared by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) on the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria's Duma last April was yet another example of Russia's "Earth-is-flat" science.
"I would like to say, dear Karen, that you were once again let down by poor UK education. The thing is that it is in your own country, the United Kingdom, the ideas of flat Earth were defended most staunchly, for which a special society the Flat Earth Society was established ... So, learn history ... and then we will talk," Zakharova said at a briefing, addressing Pierce.
In its report, the OPCW said that chlorine was "most likely" used in the alleged chemical attack in Duma. In response the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the organization had ignored the evidence provided by Russia and Syria, which confirmed that the attack had been staged by the White Helmets. The minister also expressed concern that the document sought to justify the subsequent foreign airstrikes in Syria.
