Russian Investigators Say Initiated Case on Act of Int'l Terrorism After Blasts in Donetsk

Investigators opened a criminal case on an act of international terrorism after three explosions in the center of Donetsk in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), which took place on February 18, Russian Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said Wednesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th February, 2019) Investigators opened a criminal case on an act of international terrorism after three explosions in the center of Donetsk in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), which took place on February 18, Russian Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said Wednesday.

The DPR authorities earlier said three explosions had occurred on Monday in the Donetsk neighborhood where the residence of the DPR leader was situated, two of them near the hotel where representatives of the OSCE mission lived. No one was reportedly injured. DPR security services said the blasts had been caused by a Ukrainian drone attack.

"A criminal case has been opened over a crime... 'an act of international terrorism'. The Russian Investigative Committee, based on the available experience of investigating terrorist acts, is ready to take the necessary measures to solve this crime," Petrenko said.
