MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th February, 2019) Military operations against terrorists who refuse to lay down their arms in Syria's Idlib province are unavoidable, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on Wednesday."I think that [such a military operation] is inevitable because the terrorists who refuse to surrender need to be eliminated on the ground," Bogdanov said, asked if there were any expectations regarding a military offensive in Idlib.
In early February, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin said that Idlib's de-escalation zone was a temporary measure, adding that Moscow would not tolerate any "hotbeds" of terrorism in Syria. Speaking about a possible military operation in the region, Vershinin did not give a concrete answer, adding that if such operation did take place in Idlib, it would be "carried out in the most effective manner."
