MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 09th February, 2019) A new political party, called the Brexit Party, has been registered in the United Kingdom and will field candidates in the European parliamentary election if Brexit gets delayed, its backer Nigel Farage said Friday.
"The Electoral Commission have officially recognised The Brexit Party. It will fight the European elections if Article 50 is extended. I sincerely hope that this prospect is recognised by both the Conservative Party and the Labour Party as a threat," he tweeted.
The Telegraph newspaper, which first reported the story, said the party was led by Catherine Blaiklock, a former member of the UK Independence Party, which Farage once headed. He quit last December after accusing the right-wing party of damaging the Brexit cause.
