Pompeo, Saudi Foreign Minister Agree On Need To Pursue Khashoggi Murder Case - State Dept.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th February, 2019) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir agreed that Riyadh should continue its probe into the murder of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Department of State deputy spokesperson Robert Palladino said in a readout.

"Pompeo met today with Saudi Minister... al-Jubeir," Palladino said in the readout on Thursday. "[They] agreed on the importance of Saudi Arabia continuing its investigation into the murder of Jamal Khashoggi in a credible and transparent manner, and holding all of those involved accountable."

On Yemen, the Secretary and the Minister reiterated their support for UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths' efforts to advance the political process, and the need for the Republic of Yemen Government and the Houthi� rebels to swiftly implement agreements made in Sweden, the readout said.

Pompeo and al-Jubeir also discussed Syria, progress on the middle East Strategic Alliance, countering the Iranian regime's dangerous activities and human rights, the readout added.
