Aleem Khan's arrest: PM Imran directs PTI ministers to avoid giving unnecessary statements

Prime Minister Imran Khan got to know about Aleem Khan's detention in his Bani Gala residence.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 6th February, 2019) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and senior Punjab minister Aleem Khan was taken into National Accountability Bureau (NAB) custody on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Imran Khan got to know about his detention in his Bani Gala residence.

The prime minister has directed to take the legal course in the case. Moreover, the prime minister has directed his ministers to refrain from giving unnecessary statements.

The prime minister has appreciated Aleem Khan upon resigning as the Punjab local government minister following his arrest.

According to family sources, the PTI minister has sent his resignation as the local government minister to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar upon his arrest.

The PTI leader was arrested as he had arrived in the NAB’s Lahore office for the fourth time on Wednesday. Aleem Khan was accused of possessing offshore companies and having assets beyond known sources of income.

Aleem Khan was reportedly unable to satisfy NAB regarding his source of income for his properties in Dubai and London. The NAB asked 18 questions from the senior minister but he could only respond to three of them.

He was then taken into custody from NAB premises.

He had last appeared before NAB on August 10, 2018.

The provincial minister and one of the top lieutenants of the ruling party in Punjab, will be presented before an accountability court on Thursday, read a statement from NAB following his detention.

A joint investigative team of NAB will interrogate Aleem Khan.

The PTI leader was elected as a member of Punjab Assembly from Lahore. He was serving as the provincial minister for local government and community development.
