Greece Probing Into Vinnik Case in Interests of FBI Group Acting Against Trump - Lawyer

The investigative activities and trial of Russian national Alexander Vinnik, kept in a Greek jail, are conducted in the interests of the FBI, which investigates the accusations against US leader Donald Trump of ties with Russia, Vinnik's lawyers said Monday

ATHENS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th February, 2019) The investigative activities and trial of Russian national Alexander Vinnik, kept in a Greek jail, are conducted in the interests of the FBI, which investigates the accusations against US leader Donald Trump of ties with Russia, Vinnik's lawyers said Monday.

Vinnik was arrested in Greece in July 2017 at a request of the United States, where he is accused of laundering $4 billion to $9 billion through a cryptocurrency exchange. Vinnik's extradition is also sought by Russia. In the summer of 2018, France also demanded Vinnik's extradition, accusing him of cybercrime at a time when he was already imprisoned in Greece. Vinnik's lawyers previously stated that France was acting in the interests of US security services.

"In violation of the court ruling, data storage devices seized from Vinnik at the time of arrest were handed over to the United States and then returned to conceal this fact. This proves that all actions committed by Greek justice are carried out under the control and in the interests of the FBI. Not in the US interests, but in the interests of only one group in the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which acts against President Donald Trump," lawyer Timofey Musatov told Sputnik.

According to materials available to Sputnik, Greece's judicial authorities and Justice Ministry illegally handed over to the United States material evidence on Vinnik's case, coordinating their actions with the US.
