No Weapons Found In Possession Of Suspected Aeroflot Plane Hijacker - Investigators

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd January, 2019) Investigators did not find explosives or weapons in possession of Pavel Shapovalov, the suspect in the failed attempt to hijack an Aeroflot plane on a domestic flight on Tuesday, the Russian Investigative Committee said.

�The flight SU1515 from the Siberian city of Surgut to Moscow made an emergency landing at the airport of Khanty-Mansiysk earlier in the day after a drunk male had attempted to enter the cockpit and demanded to change the course. The suspected hijacker was detained. None of the passengers and crew were injured in the operation.

"During the search of the suspect and the inspection of the aircraft, no explosives or weapons were found," the committee said in a statement.

According to the statement, Shapovalov has been officially put into custody and "will soon face charges of plane hijacking aggravated by threats to use violence."
