WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd January, 2019) US President Donald Trump is preparing two State of the Union speeches for next week, one in case he delivers his address in Congress and another for delivery at a rally somewhere outside of Washington, DC. According to media reports on Tuesday.
"President Donald Trump is preparing for two different State of the Union speeches - one a more traditional address delivered to Congress in the House chamber or some other location in D.C., the other prepared for a political rally at a location outside of Washington, DC that has yet to be determined," ABC news reported, citing anonymous sources.
Trump's speech to Congress is tentatively planned for next Tuesday, however, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has asked the president to postpone the address until a partial shutdown of the Federal government ends.
A separate State of the Union rally would presumably give Trump a second shot at a nationally televised address, replacing the staid event in the Capitol building, in which the lawmakers from the president's party responds to applause lines with standing ovations while opposition lawmakers remain seated in stony silence.
In contrast, audiences at Trump rallies are typically stacked with Trump supporters.
