Washington Condemns Deadly Attack At Hotel Complex In Kenya - State Department

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th January, 2019) The United States decried the deadly terror act at a hotel complex in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, the US State Department deputy spokesman, Robert Palladino, said in a statement, adding that a US national had been killed in the attack.

"The United States condemns in the strongest terms the January 15 terrorist attack at the DusitD2 Hotel Complex in Nairobi, Kenya. The United States offers our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those killed and a quick recovery to all who were injured. In particular, our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Jason Spindler, an American who died during the attack," Palladino said.

On Tuesday, militants stormed the Dusit hotel complex in the Kenyan capital. The country's law enforcement agencies have classified the assault as a terrorist attack. The police said that 21 people had been killed in the incident.

Islamist militant group Al Shabaab, which operates mainly in neighboring Somalia, has claimed responsibility for the gun-and-bomb attack. Al Shabaab has pledged allegiance to the al-Qaeda terror group (outlawed in Russia).
