NEW YORK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th January, 2019) Nearly 100 protesters, including Federal government workers, will participate against the ongoing government shutdown in a rally in New York on Tuesday, a National Action Network representative told Sputnik.
The US federal government shutdown entered day 24 on Thursday - a record. The shutdown started on December 22 after President Donald Trump and Democrats in Congress failed to reach an agreement on a spending bill.
"It is expected to be around 100 people, including activists and union workers affected by Trump's government shutdown, at the rally on the 90th birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King," the representative said on Monday.
The rally's participants, who are coordinated by the National Action Network's civil rights organization, will gather for a peaceful protest and will demand that Trump ends the longest shutdown in US history, according to the event's organizers.
