DAMASCUS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th January, 2019) The United Nations' new special envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, is expected to travel to the Syrian capital next week, a UN source told Sputnik.
"Pedersen will visit Damascus some time next week," the source said, adding this would be his first trip since taking office this month.
Syrian deputy foreign minister Ayman Sousan announced the planned visit earlier in the day, saying the government would offer him its assistance.
