Russian national Maria Butina, who remains in custody in the United States, has been transferred from a high-risk cell block to a general population unit, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th January, 2019) Russian national Maria Butina, who remains in custody in the United States, has been transferred from a high-risk cell block to a general population unit, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday.

"Finally, she [Butina] has been transferred to a general regime unit," Zakharova told a briefing, adding that the young woman had been previously kept in a block for high-risk prisoners and was only allowed to leave her cell no more than for two hours a day and only at night time.

According to Zakharova, Moscow will continue to make everything possible to ensure Butina's return to Russia.
