Russia Registers No Ceasefire Violations in Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has not registered any truce breaches over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has recorded 19 ceasefire violations, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd January, 2019) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has not registered any truce breaches over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has recorded 19 ceasefire violations, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

"Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement hasn't registered any cases of firing. The Turkish side has registered 19 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Idlib (3), Hama (10), Latakia (5), Aleppo (1)," the ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation said in its daily bulletin.

The reconciliation center has held one humanitarian operation over the given period, delivering 2.16 tonnes of food to a settlement in Hama province, according to the bulletin.

The total number of humanitarian operations currently amounts to 2,029, while the total weight of humanitarian cargo delivered has exceeded 3,190 tonnes.

The number of areas that signed reconciliation agreements has remained the same and currently amounts to 2,518. The number of armed formations claiming that they observe the ceasefire has not changed either, standing at 234.

Russia and Turkey, along with Iran, are the guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria, while Moscow has also been supporting Damascus' fight against terrorist groups, promoting refugees return, and providing humanitarian assistance to civilians.
