Russia Registers 2 Ceasefire Violations in Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has recorded two ceasefire violations in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has registered 10 truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 02nd January, 2019) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire has recorded two ceasefire violations in the country over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has registered 10 truce breaches, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

"Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered two cases of firing in the provinces of Idlib (1) and Latakia (1). The Turkish side has registered 10 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Idlib (2), Aleppo (1), and Hama (7)," the ministry said in its daily bulletin.

The ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation has not held any humanitarian operations over the given period, according to the bulletin.

The number of areas that signed reconciliation agreements has remained the same and currently amounts to 2,518. The number of armed formations claiming that they observe the ceasefire has not changed either, standing at 234.

Russia and Turkey, along with Iran, are the guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria, while Moscow has also been supporting Damascus' fight against terrorist groups, promoting refugees return, and providing humanitarian assistance to civilians.
