May's Cabinet Expected To Convene On January 2 To Discuss No-Deal Brexit Scenario

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 02nd January, 2019) The Cabinet of UK Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to cut short their Christmas break and hold a meeting on January 2 in order to discuss a no-deal Brexit scenario.

May reportedly decided to hold an extraordinary meeting as her Brexit agreement is still pending approval in the UK Parliament.

On December 11, the UK prime minister postponed the vote on her Brexit deal, which led to a vote of no confidence in May later in the week. Though she has won the vote, the future of the agreement is still unclear, and the no-deal scenario remains possible.

Members of the UK Parliament are set to return from their Christmas break on January 7, and a new debate over the Brexit deal is scheduled for January 9. A vote on the deal is expected to take place the following week.
