MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th December, 2018) The leader of the Ukrainian Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) political party and former Ukrainian prime minister, Yulia Tymoshenko, is still more likely to win the upcoming presidential election than other potential candidates, a poll carried out by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation in cooperation with the Razumkov Center revealed on Friday.

The presidential election in Ukraine will be held on March 31, 2019. Tymoshenko has already announced her intentions to run for president, and several other polls have already indicated that she is likely to beat other potential candidates in the election.

"Yulia Tymoshenko is leading among those who intend to run in the [presidential] election with 16.1 percent [of potential votes]," the poll said.

The former prime minister was followed by incumbent Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who was supported by 13.8 percent of the respondents. Entertainer Volodymyr Zelenskiy rounded out the top three most popular possible candidates at the moment with 8.8 percent of potential votes.

"[If left to chose between] Yulia Tymoshenko and Petro Poroshenko, 22 percent of the population are ready to vote for Yulia Tymoshenko, 16 percent [would prefer] Petro Poroshenko, but 36 percent would not choose either of them," the poll revealed, adding that 14 percent of respondents said they would not even vote if a second round of presidential election was held between these two politicians.

The poll was carried out between December 19-25 across Ukraine among 2,017 respondents aged 18 or older, with the margin of error not exceeding 2.3 percent.
