US Envoy to Visit S. Korea December 19-21 to Discuss Denuclearization - State Department

US Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun will visit South Korea this week to boost coordination of activities aimed at achieving full denuclearization of North Korea, the Department of State said in a press release on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th December, 2018) US Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun will visit South Korea this week to boost coordination of activities aimed at achieving full denuclearization of North Korea, the Department of State said in a press release on Tuesday.

"US Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun will travel to Seoul December 19-21," the release said. "[He] will meet with ROK [South Korea] Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Lee Do-hoon and other ROK officials to further strengthen US-ROK coordination on our shared objective of the final, fully verified denuclearization of the DPRK [North Korea]."

Biegun will also lead a US-South Korea working group gathering to exchange views on how to reach complete dismantlement of the nuclear program through the use of different tools, including through inter-Korean cooperation projects.

On October 7, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited North Korea where he met the country's leader Kim Jong Un and discussed organizing a second top-level US-North Korea summit. The summit could be held in mid-November in Europe, according to media reports.
